Steak v. Chicken

Steak is awesome, and chicken sucks.

That is all.

If you’re having problems with Windows Vista and a print server

Just wanted to help everyone out on the internets – this is a problem that at least a few people have come across (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Networking&thread.id=1020). It’s concerning using a networked print server with Microsoft Vista.

In my experience, the printer will either print garbage over and over, print nothing over and over, or print the first page over and over.  Either way, you’re wasting a lot of paper and toner, and it’s frustrating!

(Stop reading now if it’s not important to you :-P)

Booka Shade at 9:30, March 25

Last night, I left work and met up with Alan for a night of awesome. I got to the U Street metro, waited for Alan’s lazy ass to make it to the station (his excuse? “I walked from Dupont”! Jerk.)

We headed to Ben’s Chili Bowl, a spot that neither of us had actually ever been to!

On the classics

You ever start to write a blog post and realize that it’s uninteresting, and no-one’s going to read it?

And then you erase it, and you start over, writing a meta-post about writing a post.  You end up writing the post in the end, disclaiming it with a stupid opening.

AAANYWAY.

A short pictorial letter to the Office of Personnel Management.

Chocolate, waffles, and awesome times were ALL had!

So I spent the last couple days on the other coast.  I haven’t spent any time in California since maybe a decade ago (ish?), so it was good to go back and see the sights that I’d enjoyed as a kid.

Alcatraz. In Arabic it means..."The Catraz". (Not really.)

Back from SF/LA

I’m back from San Francisco and Los Angeles! I had a great time, but I’m tired as hell so I’m going to sleep now.

I’ll post the pictures I snapped tomorrow.

The blessing of DVR

Having a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is both awesome and awful:

  • Pro: I have no excuse for staying up late, because I can record this episode of House that I’ve never seen!
  • Con: I have no excuse for staying up late.
  • Pro: I won’t miss shows, thereby enabling me to watch more TV!
  • Con: I watch more TV.
  • Pro: I find myself loving Comcast more and more every day!
  • Con: I find myself loving Comcast.

you get the picture.

In other news, Metro has rehabilitated some cars recently:

Seats

And the Sony store has a $400….thing.  I have a video but it’s too big for Youtube, and Google Video is taking too long to approve it.  I’ll post it eventually.  Just know that it’s….weird.  And overpriced.

Dinner tonight was awesome

It’s a lazy beautiful Sunday.  It’s unfortunate that it’s dark out this early, but really, it’s still February…what should I expect?  It was in the 50s and 60s today though, so I won’t complain about it getting dark early.

Anyway, I spent most of the day studying for the LSAT.  I’m going to take it again in June to raise my score, because frankly it wasn’t good enough to compete with most people.  I scored a 166 on the diagnostic, so we’ll see how high I can go with it (and how high I can keep it)!

After a few hours at the library, I decided that I needed some soy sauce (since my old stuff started to go funny…), so I went out to Super H Mart.  H-Mart (aka Han Ah Reum) is a Korean grocery chain endemic to this area – there are a couple elsewhere, but I think it started in Northern Virginia.  I’m not sure what the difference is between a “Super” H-Mart and a normal H-Mart, but whatever.

Anyhoo, I realized that I had some pork in the freezer, so I decided on a meal for the night.  It was quick, easy, semi-healthy (well, moreso than what I could have eaten otherwise…) and cheap.

Finished product - pork bulgogi on lettuce

The finished product!

The process follows below!
